FAA fleet-age analysis
How old is each state’s registered aircraft fleet?
A complete 50-state by 11-category census of recorded aircraft age, including zero-count combinations.
Important: Registered location is administrative and recorded age is not a measure of condition, airworthiness or recent flight activity.

Methodology
How the list was made
- Restricted to valid, non-expired registrations in the 50 states with plausible manufacture years.
- Cross-joined all 50 states with all 11 FAA aircraft categories so zero combinations remain visible.
- Calculated mean and median recorded age, share of the state fleet and within-category state rank.
Editorial use
What still needs checking
Use category-specific comparisons where possible; a state’s mix of helicopters, gliders and fixed-wing aircraft can materially change its overall age profile.
